"Favorite Group Travel Destination?" That's a question we are often asked. The answer depends on which one of us you ask. Janet will tell you that Panama is her favorite place we have visited. But if you ask, each of us will tell you that while the destination is important, Group Travel is so much fun that the group is often what takes precedence over your itinerary.

If you have never taken part of a travel group, DO NOT FEAR, you do not all have to wear the same shirts and play follow the leader to a tour guide that wears a whistle and carries a clipboard. Travel Groups today are not what they once were in the 1980's. It has evolved, it is now personal. Small, intimate groups travel to various locations around the globe to obtain fantastic experiences.

It is said that some people have the travel bug or Wanderlust (a strong desire for or impulse to hike, wander or travel and explore the world) and I am pretty sure you would say that our family has it. We love traveling, especially taking part in travel groups.

Here our the 4 top reasons we love Group Travel:

1. Company: When you participate in group travel, not only are you exploring some of the worlds most stunning wonders, but you are also making new friends at the same time. If you live in the US and decide you want to visit Europe, there is a nice, long 9 hour plane ride ahead of you. Why not use that time to get to know everyone? During your trip you can chat, laugh and have fun with other people that enjoy doing the same things that you do. I have met many people along the way that have planned future vacations with "the strangers" from their group that they met a few vacations earlier.

Not everyone has a large family or group of friends that can travel with them. This is where travel groups come in nicely. There are a variety of groups designed to meet the needs and wishes of everyone. If you are single or traveling solo, you can pair up with another member and avoid paying the single supplement. Travel Groups usually get special treatment allowing them to get behind-the-scene tours not usually offered to individuals.

2. Cost: Not only do you get to make new friends and explore far corners of the world, you usually get a price that is far better than doing it by yourself. Traveling with a group allows you to see and do the most exploring while incurring minimum expenditures by splitting the cost between all members.

3. Safety: Group travel is the safest form of travel today. Being with your group ensures maximum safety as each person is watching out for everyone else. In case of any emergency, you know that you are not alone.

4. Convenience: If you lead a fairly busy life, like most of us do, you do not want to spend hours researching and reading travel books to make sure you book a good trip. Travel Groups are already put together by the organizer. All you have to do is take a look at the itinerary and sign up if it sounds good to you. The best trips are usually the one where the person that is organizing is also going on the trip.
